Dawn Grishow
I began my musical career as a drummer and singer in a cover band that performed in Oregon, Washington, California, Montana, and Alaska. ( Playing a 6 month gig at Sunriver Lodge’s “ Owl’s Nest “ was magic!!! ) Yet I did become weary “ living on the road “
I settled in California fronting a band at Disneyland’s Tomorrowland’s Terrace, a unique concert stage which hydraulically rises out of the ground, we’d start our opening song underground and be playing as the stage surfaced… what a hoot!!! I believe it’s been renamed Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. When the band disbanded I had the opportunity of being accepted into the screen actors guild ( S.A.G. ) screen extras guild ( S.E.G.) and the American federation of television and radio artists (AFTRA)… such fun memories working in the film industry… everything from Soap Operas, T.V. Shows, Commercials, and Feature Films… extra work to stand-in to actress. Some of my favorites were being one of the recurring background bar patrons for 11 seasons on CHEERS, Madonna’s stand-in on the film WHO’S THAT GIRL, working on STAR TREK IV, LOVE BOAT, DYNASTY, DALLAS, FALCON CREST, FANTASY ISLAND, GHOSTBUSTERS, LETHEL WEAPON, AGAINST ALL ODDS, STAYIN ALIVE, Nancy Sinatra’s back-up dancer/ singer on CHINA BEACH episode, etc… and two years stand-in on the T.V. remake of ALFORD HITCHCOCK PRESENTS with the best crew ever!!!
Moving back to Oregon in the 90’s I returned to music, playing with a 5 piece wedding band. In 2001 I started my own business – DW Duo- offering entertainment packages highlighting my talents as a Harpist, DJ, Singer, Entertainer, and have played over 400 weddings… oh my gosh, being a part of one of the most memorable events in family’s life’s…yes, I truly have the best job in the world!!!
